Hendrick Cares

The Hendrick Cares Program Mission

Hendrick Cares is the name of our corporate social responsibility program putting into action the company's legacy of caring for others and commitment to teamwork.

Making a Difference

Hendrick Cares is more than community initiatives or partnerships. It's our employees responding to the needs of others and stepping up when they see an opportunity. Sometimes it's individuals quietly helping someone. On other occasions, it's teams coming together to support nonprofits. But across the company, Hendrick Automotive Group is committed to supporting local schools and food banks. Our corporate hunger initiatives have connected our teammates to food banks across the country, and the new Hendrick, Get Set. Go! competition is funding education projects to increase student access to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) across diverse communities in 2021. So far, we've provided:

230,000 individual holiday meals

$1 million to food banks

5,545,000 pounds of food

$100,000 for STEM education needs

Our Impact on Others

Hendrick Automotive Group

"It's our civic duty to take care of the people in our community, and a moral duty just for mankind."

- Rick Hendrick, Chairman and CEO

Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina

"Our partnership with Hendrick Automotive Group has allowed SHFBM to serve thousands of families at schools with high poverty rates throughout Mecklenburg County. The donations we receive allow us to provide school-based mobile pantries for low-income families, helping them to access essential staple items, fresh produce, meat, dairy products and whole grain breads. In addition to these onsite shopping experiences, thousands of children are also receiving backpacks of healthy food to take home on weekends and holidays when school meals are not available. We are so thankful that Hendrick shares our goal of ending child hunger in our community."

-Kay Carter

Feeding America Riverside

"I just wanted to reach out to thank you for all that you did for our food bank this holiday season. Yesterday we were able to take our turkeys, pies, and all of the sides to a housing complex in Bloomington, CA. This complex was a low income center with a high number of seniors. We received so many thanks from gracious members of our community and were even joined by the local Assembly member who advocated for this group of recipients. We distributed remaining meals to the March Air Force Base, where meals were given to the Airmen and Family Readiness Program, which supports the well-being of military families through the holidays. Your help this holiday was surely appreciated and we look forward to working with you in the future."

-Carolyn S.

Sterling Elementary School

"Thank you so much for your contribution of Thanksgiving meals, I know of no other way to say it. I just have to share that I am absolutely blown away by your generosity. I cannot even begin to tell you how much your donation means to the school and students. To think that you have given just because you believe in what we are trying to do encourages us. Your donation helps make our mission possible for our children. Our children need people like you. Our children need people who see the good in what we are attempting to do and help us destroy any barriers that are in our way. Thank you for the encouragement that we are working together to stop the cycle of poverty. Thank you for caring."

-Eridania Peréz-Villa

Easter Meal Recipient

"Thank you very much for your generous gift. Our family is grateful that you are willing to help us during our rough time. It is people like you that truly make this world a better place. You are doing a great work for families. Thank you and God Bless."

-Margritta B.

Double Oaks Parent Group

"For 17 years, Hendrick Automotive Group has worked with community members like me to help assure families in need enjoy healthy Easter and Thanksgiving meals around a table with loved ones. Their commitment to continue to grow this effort means that nearly 75 organizations including community groups, schools, and churches are able help their families access nutritional holiday meals. This means so much to so many each year, and we are so grateful for and appreciative of this partnership."

-Carlenia Ivory

Hendrick Lexus Charlotte

"I am most proud of how much we've been able to encourage the teachers at JH Gunn Elementary. The school has not experienced any teacher turnover, and that is very powerful for the school and the students."

-Chris Calder

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools

"In my short tenure with CMS, I have had the honor to work alongside Hendrick Automotive Group on many projects. It brings me great joy to work with a company that embodies servant leadership. At each food distribution event, I have always seen a Hendrick employee with a genuine smile, ready to serve. Our communities, our teachers, and our students get to experience love through their acts of service and I am truly grateful for all that they do."

-Yasmine Young

Honda Cars of Rock Hill

"It's very rewarding to be able to help people in our local community. From volunteering with local schools and law enforcement to delivering toys and food baskets around the holidays, we enjoy serving the community just like we do in our business."

-Pam Oakes

Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry

"We so enjoyed getting to work with Hendrick Automotive Group on their corporate meal drive. Not only did the Hendrick volunteers assemble their collected items at our organization, but they were happy to help in our warehouse, pulling food orders for our clients, which was a huge relief and blessing to our regular volunteers. We enjoyed being able to bless our clients with an extra meal as they left with their food. Thank you so much for all of the effort everyone at Hendrick has put into this program."

-Ivy Hudson

Hendrick Lexus Northlake

"Not only has our partnership with Nathaniel Alexander Elementary connected our employees with the school, but it has built a stronger team within our dealership. Every time we walk through the doors of the school we are greeted with smiles and immediately feel an energy, sense of excitement and appreciation. That energy is brought back to the dealership. At the end of the day our mission is for the children to know that their community believes in them."
